Bruno, 2026

Bruno is a solo presentation by London-based artist James Jordan Johnson, marking the culmination of his year-long residency at FormaHQ, which was supported by New Contemporaries. The exhibition brings together sculpture and organic matter found within South London.
Across Bruno, journeys, objects, audio and images become ways of thinking through forms of memorialisation, truth, memory and death. Johnson continues his exploration of the metaphysics of witnessing, considering how slowness and opacity might produce readings of Blackness within the everyday. The title refers to the British boxer Frank Bruno, the colour brown and dusk as a visual register.
